my sil went to california dmv for her ca id. she presented her ss card she wasnt born here but her work permit had expired years ago so she stupidly went and made an unexpired work permit so she presented that as a form of secondary id they just photocopied it.weeks later the detective from the dmv called her and asked her to come in and verify her papers she didnt go. yesterday detectives went knocking on her door but she was in the hospital with a high risk pregnancy. i was outside (we live in the same complex) and they showed me a picture of her and said they needed to talk to her regarding her ca id. were so scared for her shes not a criminal she was just desperate. what should she do? call them? will they arrest her? what will happen if she doesnt call them?does she need a lawyer?also do you think they will get immigration involved?pleaze we dont know where to start or what to do
thats exactly my point she didnt try to impersonate anyone the only thing she did was change an expiration date. oh and the dmv has all her info of course from when she went to get her id. no shes not involved with anything were descent law abiding people so is she nobody has ever been in trouble she was just tired of running around with no id. shes barely ends meet with my brother so a lawyer is really the last thing we could do.
