SOUTH PARK EPISODE 166 TALKBACK!

SYNOPSIS:
"Obsessed with the Guitar Hero video game, Stan and Kyle make a great team and score record points when they play. Stan realizes he has the potential for enormous success if he plays with another partner. He and Kyle break up but, without his friend, Stan quickly folds under the pressure of being a rockstar."

NOTE ONE: This ep will be released with the others (including the next one) in the Season 11 DVD coming out next year. However the "ImagationLand" Trilogy is getting another release earlier in March 2008 as a special movie collectors set with 20 minutes of extra footage. Just wanted to tell you that if you didn't already know.

Well that's it. Enjoy The Episode Everyone!

I hope this isn't one of those highly unrealistic "Stanley's Cup" type episodes.

EDIT: So first we have a Kyle vs Cartman episode, then a Randy Marsh episode, then three Kyle vs Cartman episodes in a row and then what do we have tonight? Another episode with Randy Marsh.

I love the large variety of characters used on this show, don't you?

Randy actually played a pretty small role tonight.

I liked tonight's episode. About time we saw a Stan and Kyle episode again.

Great episode, I'm glad they didn't drop the ball with a post-epic mess like 'Million Little Fibers' this time.

The ending was a wonderful screw you.

Those long ass Assassin's Creed commercials annoyed the hell out of me. Yes, I get it, the game looks good. I don't need to be reminded every 8 or so minutes.

'Bout time they made a Stan episode.

I thought it was fairly funny, the biggest laugh coming from Thad playing Guitar Hero acoustically. Heroin Hero was also really funny, if not a bit obvious from the getgo. Also Stan's manager snapping his fingers while Kyle and Stan played was hilarious.

A

I wasn't the biggest fan of Imaginationland's last 2 parts, so I'm glad South Park is going back to single episodes for the time being.

There was a real lack of Randy in this episode, but his bits were still awesome. I loved the absurdity the whole way through. And what a great punchline. Not the best of the season, but still pretty damn good.

Wow, one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands ever, lol. Carry On indeed.

Loved Randy's parts, The twist ending, the kid showing off his mad skillz (just click noises, no sound, lol) and Heroin and Rehab Hero.

For quite a few years I've found South Park juvenile and predictable, I pretty much stopped liking it after 8th grade in 2000.

This episode still followed the usual SP formula but I enjoyed it a lot. It was so tacky it really fit the SP universe. fantastic.

I had a feeling they would emphaize the whole "Rock show" aspect of the synopsis and that guitar hero would be a metaphor for actually rock star actions. In this case big expensive parties where things seem good, losing the partner that's "dead weight" and getting a new one, the addiction to something (at least related to a drug), the fall out, and of course the sort of reunion after every thing's said and done even though it's not back to what it could of been. It's a very standard formula thinking about it: I mean I did like the Guitar Hero footage played through it but it really should of been more about the game then the metaphor. Like how "Make Love Not Warcraft" was more about the metaphor even tough the obvious metaphor was people need to stop playing and get real lives otherwise they could end up like uber nerds. I sort of did like how unlike other just Stan/Kyle focused eps they did have more with the other boys (even though it was just mainly crowd scenes) and Stan's Dad had a lot of good moments (trying to play real guitar for the kids, failing at Guitar Hero, and then getting into Heroin Hero at the end). But in truth those are the only moments I really laughed at in the show (besides the football player diss, the kid imiating playing guitar hero and the crowd grooving, and the end sequence with the game calling the kids f**s and then Butters and Cartman playing at the end was nice). A lot of it felt more bleh then even solo Stan plots feel. Then again some solo stan plots (like "Trapped In The Closet") shine more in repeats then in first viewings. Still this left me more empty inside then I thought. Maybe the writers should focus more on multi parters since ImagiationLand blows every other ep in this part of the season away easily. At least IMHO anyway.

This was awful. I think I laughed maybe once. I'm guessing they were trying to parody a movie, but I don't know which one. The episodes where they tend to do a movie parody for the whole episode tend to suck. I can't believe the hilarious Simpsons Halloween special got bashed on this board and people are praising this. This was probably the worst episode of South Park all season.
