Episode 209: "Creme Fraiche"

The season finale airs tonight at 10 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:

Ugh, are they going to have more than two jokes in this episode or is that it? Between this and the amount of padding/dull episodes (and in a year with ample interesting news stories, no less), it seems like Matt and Trey have officially run out of gas.

What is interesting is that next season is the final one in their current contract. Will they renew beyond 2011 will be interesting to see. It still brings in ratings for Comedy Central, so I'm sure they'll want to bring it back.

Yeah, it seems M&T had a poor sense of pacing throughout this season, there were episodes that had a lot of effort (The Coon episodes), so much effort that may have been put into lesser episodes.

I doubt they've run out of gas (although I agree that tonight's episode was a weak one). The problem can be seen right at the end of the episode: they've been busy writing a new Broadway musical, and hence more time being focused on that instead of new South Park episodes (it was like this six years ago when most of the later half of that season was weak due to Trey and Matt working on Team America).

Similar to "Pee" this felt like an episode that should of been near the beginning of the half season instead of the end of the season. You know a story that was driven by only a few jokes. In this case the idea of Sharon getting a Shake Weight (which is just an obvious parallel/parody of "old Fashioned" relationship if you know what I mean) and Randy trying to become a famous internet chef. In truth though not the worst episode of the season this felt just very basic. I mean the Sharon plotline started off well enough but then they just tried making it a basic relationship story with a shake weight. Which is just one of those jokes that works for a gag but the problem with SP is taking those gags and making them stretch all the way to the end. I did like the Shake Weight trying to comment on all the women SHaron hates and insult her and it being there just to remind her to give Randy uh more "attention" that he needs but a lot of the scenes felt pretty flat. Essistantlly just a bunch of "LOL It's Funny because she's looking like she's jacking it off laugh that we keep doing this joke again and again and again".

The Randy stuff actually starter off slower and got better. Since essitantlly it just felt like a bunch of erection jokes (though spiced up some with his hiding behind blankets and calling the hotline for the Food Network) and since my mom is also obsessed with the Food Network I can defintley understand the idea of someone (espically wacko Randy) taking things way too far. The plot got better once it was moved into the school kitchen (heh thinking about who was Chef since... Chef was out anyway?) mostly for Cartman pretending to be Gordon Ramsey and the cook off. Though that also fell flat since it didn't have any resolution. I guess that wasn't the point but since they rushed a resolution for the three parter this time they just walked away from one even though I guess the crux of the plot was Sharon and Randy. Similar to "Clubhouses" I guess it is the fault of them both for the realtionship faltering (Sharon for not being interested enough and Randy's wackiness) but that is still a far better constructed ep then this one. So yeah this season defintley ends on a flatlined note. Better then "It's A Jersey Thing" in constincey (since as one plot got better, another got worse so it was balanced out) but defintley the second weakest of this half season run.

This episode was pretty meh, I didn't laugh once. I thought the gag with Stan's mom and the work out thing was overdone, and the stuff with Randy was typical fare with him, and since I haven't enjoyed an episode with him in recent memory, that is a good indicator that I didn't care for it.

Great/hilarious Randy episode, his episodes always crack me up, hahaha,

The highlights:
Randy obsessed with the Food Network along while watching it with his sick perverted mind was hilarious, hahahahaha:p:D.
The Terrance and Phillip Progressive commercial was sweet/silly, Trey & Matt finally bashed that commercial, hehehe.
The Shape Weights are more perverted than Randy, hahahahaha.
Poor Stan, I feel sorry for him to have a wacky retarded father.
Sharon looks hot working out.
The voice command Shape Weight towards Sharon was so wrong/funny, hahahaha.
Randy becomes the new school chef, the poor four boys, I so miss the old Chef, he was awesome!!!!!
Randy becoming an internet celebrity chef was great.
Nice to see Kevin Stoley in the line.
Sharon looked hot in the swimsuit.
The Shape Weight commenting all the women Sharon hates was funny.
Eric being Gordon Ramsey was hilarious, he does a good impression of that loudmouth jerkface, hahahahaha:p:D:D.
Randy thinking Eric is Gordon was priceless.
The Shape Weight driving Sharon crazy at night was funny.
That Giada chick is super ugly/creepy, ick:ack::eek:.
Uh-oh, the Shape Weight cheated on Sharon, hahahaha.
The Ultimate Cook-Off Challenge was interesting.
Those poor hungry kids.
The Shape Weight helping Sharon get back together with Randy was surprising/great.

I'm happy Sharon gets her own plot which was brilliant.

Stan's Dad temporary was the new CHEF, boy, I sure miss the old CHEF even though Issac Hayes quit in 2006 before he died a few years later and the old CHEF was turned into a Darth Vaderisque creature.

Would you ever get one of those talking barbells that after you workout squirts you in the face and pays you off in coins even for Christmas?

That was a terribly weak episode, on par with "Pee" from last season. I hate when they keep doing the same joke over and over throughout an episode. There were two parts that made me laugh, though: Randy's "Hello there, children." like the way Chef always used to say it, and Giada's horrifying face.
