South Park - "Butters' Bottom..." - Talkback [10/14]

That one part that pretty much can't be mentioned in any way on a family-friendly forum... was just... wow. There is no emoticon for that.

Overall, a solid episode. But like a lot of newer episodes, I think it'd be even better if they would get over how funny the inherent idea of the episode is and actually do more with it. When I first realized Butters was becoming a pimp, it was great. But I wish they could maintain that air of surprise a little bit longer.

Butter is my favorite character, so I was pleased to see an episode starring him.

I was originally thinking this was going to be all about Butters trying to get a kiss, but I quickly saw where it was going. I knew this was going to be one of those "Refuge in Audacity" episodes, and it was that and more.

Butters cheerfully and niaviely stumbling his way into an illegal business and not realizing how horrible it was was just hilarious. Throughout that whole thing he remained innocent, and even got away with everything in the end. The scene at the bank was undoubtably the funniest.

The B plot, with the undercover cop, was both disgusting and funny. It's amazing how utterly insane the guy is.

Okay, now I'm worried about my mental state, since I found it funny.

All in all, good episode, looking forward to next week's.

That was not a bank. It was South Parks way of making fun of ACORN, the most recent business cut off from government funding due to some people telling undercover reporters how to run a pimp business legally.

I always do like these school episodes, since instead of focusing on some media situation or some celeberity doing something stupid, we instead get to focus on the characters. In this case we get a Butters focus. Which is actually quite a change from most Butters focus eps. Instead of Butters being taken advantage of or abused or being confused about what he's getting into or not get anywhere, we see another example of his naievete: his naieve thinking of the world around him being used to his advatage. In this case after getting a kiss realizing the "kissing buissness" has some great success and ending up becoming a pimp himself and actually learning some proper pimp ettiequte. Other shows (King Of The Hill and The Boondocks) have had a "Prosistute and pimp" ep but this focuses more on the pimp side of things as we see how different Butters is as a man. Yet thankfully not jaded enough to see what "True love" is and realize the lesson he needs to learn and setting the ladies go. I also liked him having a smile and stormy sticker set, the "you know what I am saying" and trying to get Bebe and Wendy to be his hoes and having no idea how the sexual part of the buisness goes. I also like the boys pointing out prostitution is bad since they had their own expierence of sort of prostitution (see "Tooth Fairy Tats 2000" and "Fat Camp") even if Butters is actually delving into REAL prostituion.

The Yates subplot wasn't nearly as good. Me and a friend were back and forth on who the cop would be for the subplot and he had hoped it would be Barbrady. Thankfully it wasn't since I didn't want Barbrady's character to be desegnated as a prosistute who got so caught in the actions he didn't even know he was going overboard. Though in truth the whole "undercover cop pulling over a prostitute" joke was done much better by Cartman in season 2 in "Chickenlover" (then again Cartman is a much funnier cop then Yates and for the most part Barbrady). The first pull overs were kind of funny and I do like Yates getting so far into it he married one of the pimps (notice how the pimps and even some of the random men actually DIDN'T have a Matt Stone or Trey Parker voice? It's always good when we get some VA diversity) though it would of been funnier if at the end he was forced to continue being the guy's wife because he lost his gun and badge somewhere. Still a rather fun ep that had good character moments and good chuckles with Pimp Butters... geez who ever thought they'd say that?
