Sound of a cat'd exhaust

Ok...so it seems that my 2011 Ultra (thanks to you all) is the reason my bike does not sound as good with my Slip-on ThunderHeaders as my 2008 Ultra sounded.

Now the big decision...My desire is to run D&D full 2-1 system with wrapped perforated baffle. Thats close to $1K.

Would any of you go a different route with similar results such as a different (and less expensive) system but still sounds great?

I have a 2010 Ultra as well, I went with the Fuel Moto Jackpot 2-1-2 head pipes, Dyno tuned mufflers with the standard baffles, SE air cleaner and PCV pre-mapped by Fuel Moto. The sound is great! It sounds like a HD should. The performance is much better and it runs much cooler on the right side, now that the cat is gone. I highly recommend this set up. You wont be disappointed. If you like really loud, then Fuel Moto sells competition baffles that ramp up the decibels.

Good luck with your choice.

This is something you will have to decide, but I'll tell you my experience. I put Fuelmoto's Dyna Tuned Jackpots with the standard baffle. I ran those mufflers for 6 months and the sound was great to almost too loud. I was about to contact Jamie and buy a set of his quiet baffles for them, But ended up trading it for a 2010 RK. I took the Jackpots off the 08 and put them on the RK. I now have that same deep rumble, but a lot quieter! I contribute it to the Cat in the head pipe. I'm planning in the future to maybe go with FuelMoto's 2into1 to 1 Muffler. I don't need 2 mufflers. I'm also considering D&D Fatcat sytem like you are talking about. I rode in a Poker Run a couple weeks ago and there was a Lady riding a SE RK with the D&D Fatcat on it and it sound awesome! Lot to choose from out there, Good Luck!

Well I did it. I got the D&D Boss Fatcat system. As soon as I am done working I will strip down to my skivvies and go into the garage, turn the fan on full blast and start the installation.

Got rid of the cat and put on a V&H power header with the fuel moto package of jackpot slip ons and the stage 1 air ceaner and the PCV. Now can't believe the way it runs. More power and a whole lot cooler! Cat head pipe turned the right muffler yellow and the head pipe was blue! Too damn hot! DId noe of my riding buds bike too. Both wre running much better and the power has been restored.

ugh the more I hear of this the more I am determined to have the head pipe changed out first thing when my RK is delivered
