Okay well so far, in the past ten minutes she's made a series of different noises. What do they mean?
At first she was on the bed, and I picked her up and put her on my shoulder and since I'm wearing a clean, really warm baggy swet shirt, she climbed into it and started racing around my neck, down my shirt, behind my hair, but when she was doing this she was making the really low pitch squeaking sorta sound. It's wasn't like " EEK " but more like a calm sweeky purr. And when I put her in her cage, she got something to eat and something to drink, and then she went into her house. About one minute later she ran back out and looked at me from the bars. She looked as if she was about to chew the bars, but didn't. She then made this really strange CRUNCHING sound with her teeth, which slowly formed into a quiet chatter. She just sat there chattering at me, and then that crunch with her teeth again. It sounded like she was actually eating something, but she wasn't. What do these sounds mean? Did that weird squeak she made, mean she was happy to be in my sweater? Did that chattering mean she wanted out, or was angry?
Please help! Thankyou :)

Your ratttie is definitely Happy. I think the link below could demonstrate the answer your question...rat vocalisations are MOSTLY outside human range of perception...they are actually much more vocal than we can hear

Please answer my question thank you

Rats make a series of noises. Usually the noises do not need MEDICAL attention unless they are sneezing alot, or making a grieving pneumonia noise. The purring noise is just her feeling warm and snug on what you are wearing and the amount of body heat you give off. The tick tack crunching noise is her filing her teeth (their front incisors never stop growing) so they need to file them down or else they will become very sick.

She sounds really happy, sometimes rats make little contented noises, she sounds like a very happy well loved rat and maybes that was her way of asking you to play some more with her..

It's good to ask a lot of questions =D My hamster also makes that weird low "purr" noise, kind of like a muffled twittering sound. As far as I can tell, he only does it when he's happy. Other people have told me theirs do the same. As for the crunching sound, your rat is grinding her teeth together. It's not really a good OR bad thing, it's just something they do to keep their teeth trim (in addition to chewing on things). =D Okeedokey, have fun!

The squeaking or purring means she was happy to be with you. My baby rat did that, it was so cute!
As for the crunching, she was grinding her teeth. Rats will do that to keep their teeth at a comfortable length.
She is perfectly fine. So don't worry to much. She was just being a regular happy little rat!
