Sore throat weired symptoms

I've got a very peculiar symptom in my throat - I have pharyingistis according to my doctor, it is sore, but when I swallow, or speak, it feels like there's a kind of flappy growth moving around. It gives me the feeling of choking or gagging and then it disappears again. I wondered if anyone has had these symptoms accompanying a sore throat, and was it diagnosed? I'm worried that it might be my epiglotis coming away, but I really have no idea.

If anyone has experienced this, did they find a treatment/cure or did it just go away in time? I haven't been given antiboitics as it is a viral infection.

Sounds like uvulitis. Your uvula is that flappy thing that hangs down in the back of your throat, normally you don't feel it but if it's swollen from pharyngitis, you get that weird "some thing's back there" feeling.

Thank you so much - that makes perfect sense. Finally, I have an idea of what it is, and I've looked it up on the internet and it all makes sense now! Many thanks - I really appreciate that information. Why oh why my own doctor couldn't have sussed it, leaves me once again losing my faith in GP's.
