sore low back - have arthritis

I shoveled snow 4 days ago and my back is still really sore. Does ben gay and similar products help? I have arthritis in my lower back but the snow had to go. Also what can you do for sore legs? They feel like cement logs when I take a step. Thank-you B.S.
 
Hello and welcome to the board, "Barb"...You will easily find that everyone here is more than willing to help you with any questions or problems that you may have. May I ask you a few questions so that we all can better learn about your condition? How long have you been suffering with "back problems"? Do you see a doctor or specialist regularly about your condition? Have you ever had any x-rays or a MRI done...if so, what were the findings (impression)? Several merabers recommended BioFreeze as an excellent topical agent. Do you take medication(s) for your condition? Thanks, in advance.
 
My wife has been using Biofreeze samples that she got from her therapist-- she has Ostero along with the aches and pains. I just used some yesterday for lower back pain and It works many times better than I expected.

What is so unusual --the sample packs were on the bathroom counter and I did not even bother to see what they were -- She told me they were good but this is another time I wish I had listened.
Our oldest son will be 50 this year so we are seniors!!

As I said my wife got hers from her physical therapist - a chiropractor but several days ago I got a supply of samples packs from an eB-- seller with an order I had placed last week for an entirely different product. I have not bought any yet -- it just keeps coming to us.

I have not looked for Biofreeze in any retail stores but I found that you can buy it on eB-- in 4 oz, tubes, rollons, pump containers up from small to a gallon size The type I have is a green gel that has very little scent.

I also plan to buy some in the future but for now I have an ample supply.
It certainly works well. It does not stain clothes, it does not leave a film and you just wash your hanRAB when you are finished appling it.

I asked my P/ about it and she said that she had heard good things about it, but they did not carry it. She suggested going online. When i did that, they told me they could send me some, but it would be a lot cheaper if I could find a place that sold it. She looked it up in her computer and found a Chiro, in my area, that sold it. I have been getting it from them for several years now...it is wonderful! I don't even go to this Chiro. for service and they still give me their samples, everytime I go in.

Give it a try, I think you will like it.

I actually found Bio Freeze locally at a home health care medical supply store, maybe you can find it locally as well by calling around.

I was very surprised to find out the primary ingredient is menthol at 3.5% and then camphor at a really low amount. What is ironic is Vicks Vapor Rub is the same thing but with reversed amounts. Bio Freeze also contains an ingredient from the Holly bush. Smells great and actually the smell disappears really quick. I'm not sure what their "magic trick" to that is unlike Vicks.

I find it works for mild pains with muscle strain but does not last nearly as long as they claim. The cooling sensation is what really helps. I know there's other OTC products that also cause cooling and you might find the same results with them.

I'm not sure why they limit distribution because there's really no difference between it and some other products. I guess maybe to control the market? Some vitamin type stores actually sell menthol rubs, I've never compared them but maybe I'll try that to see if there's a difference.
