Sony Vegas Pro serial number???? Help?

Ok. I am seriously confused. So I downloaded both Sony Vegas Pro 9 and 10 from the internet. I need to know if there is any way to get a serial number without paying for it. Or is it that when you download pro from the internet, you will only get a trial version??? That's all I need to know. I've been wondering this forever and it's driving me insane. If someone could PLZ answer....that would be SO APPRECIATED!!!!!
