Hello.
I was just wondering if anybody could help me with this?
I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K23 series laptop with Windows XP sp2 installed.
One day when I was on it I had youtube.com open with a video paused, Microsoft Visual Basic 2008, and Photoshop CS4. I left it like it was and went to get the phone that was ringing. I was on it for about 5 minutes then came back to it and it was completely frozen. No keys would work, task manager, msconfig hotkey, etc. I even closed the lid for hibernation and it just stayed on.
So I held the power button down to manually shut it down and restart. When I got it on again It said there was a problem shutting down, and gave me the startup options. I tried all of them and what happens is after it does the Windows XP loading screen, a blue screen pops up for less than a second and restarts.
I went into boot options and I cannot remember exactly what I did, but I made it boot from cd or load or something.
Now when I go to do a new version of windows xp I can figure out what to do.
It has a 16.8GB C:/ drive and a 32GB D:/ drive.
2.8 GHz Pentium 4
512 MB RAM
I would love to get this fixed because these laptops are still pretty expensive even 5 years after having it. So please help me.
Also. These are some of the files it can't find when it tries to install a new version of windows.

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
If this is your first time seeing this stop error screen,
restart your computer.
NTLDR is missing
I hit repair and that doesn't work.
It does similar things as installing.
I have a recover disk for my new Dell Inspiron.
Also I have a portable hardrive.
