Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 vs. HTC Desire vs. Apple iPhone (4 OS) vs. Samsung Galaxy-S

So, does anyone know which phone is best. I recently purchased a HTC Tilt 2, but I plan on returning it tomorrow. As it is outdated and I am still within 30 days of purchase. My question is which phone will be the best for overall user experience. Web browsing, videos, rendering speed, etc.

Also, if anyone knows an estimated release date to AT&T that would be great because I may have to downgrade from my Tilt 2 to Sony Ericsson w600i for a month or two, so I can upgrade to these.

IMO,
I think the HTC Desire beats the Xperia x10, but am wondering if anyone thinks it doesn't and if anyone thinks that latter two (iPhone and Galaxy) will be much better and worth the wait

Thanks, Mo

My guess here is the HTC Desire whose UI appears more optimized to the hardware and might have less fatty overhead than the UIs used on the Xperia X10 and Galaxy S.

With the HTC Desire - no HSDPA 850 = no 3G in the US (Nexus One is a good altenative)

I would say it's a matter of preference and what handset is more appealing to you. I like the way the x10 looks and feel, and I never been a Samsung fan. If I would to pick, I would go HTC > x10 > Apple > Samsung.

Best is in the eye of the user. IMHO, what I would consider as best probably isn't on your list as we use the devices for different purposes.

In addition, no one can say how good or bad the next iPhone will be. Sure we can all speculate that it will be really great, but it could be a pig too.

If you need a device, what is the use in waiting another several weeks/months for your dream model to come out? Take a leap, make a D and get the one you think best fits your needs.

Does the Tilt do what you want and need it to do? It might be "outdated" but if it works for you, then go for it. You can also probably pick up a used one someplace like eBay until your dream device hits the street.

For me, it'd be between the Desire and the iPhone 4. You CAN get a Desire that works on 850 (but not 1900) from Telstra in Australia, but it's kinda expensive. If you want Android, it's the best thing on the market next to the N1, which has the advantage of being a Google Experience device and gets faster updates, but lacks Sense UI, which makes Android MUCH more user friendly.

Since we don't have much hard knowledge about the new iPhone, it's hard to make a call if it's going to be quickly outclassed. Phones are just now making the hardware on the 3GS feel outdated, and it's been out for a year already, which for phones is an eternity. If the iPhone 4 has the expected 4x res screen, an A4 1ghz chip with Apples usual optimization that makes it feel WAY faster and keep better battery, and a few more OS tweaks that fit the exact needs that I want, then I"ll have no compunction about buying one.

You also have to think about the extra $ you'll be paying if you get the iPhone, but since you have a Tilt 2 already it shouldn't be too much of a difference. I'm trying to make the same decision for when taxes come, but it's between the X10, Galaxy S, and Beam...
