Sony Ericsson w800i vs. Nokia 3250 (the twist phone)

I'm going overseas soon and I'm planning on saving up some money to get one of these. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I would trust the SE more. It had a solid proven design, good camera, good all round feature set and a great UI. I know Nokia is good as well, but the twisty part of the phone would make me nervous.
 
More details? What network are you using it on and where are you going?

If your network supports 850, get W810 instead of W800. As for the Nokia, it isn't good and it's way over priced. The basic thing about Nokia is, the higher the first number, the better the phone and thus higher the price. However, Nokia has a tendency to offer 3000 series phone at 6000 series price because of "design". The 3230 (I believe) was an examply. It was a crappier version of another 6000 series phone but cost almost the same.

Thus, I suggest W800 between the two. I like both Nokia and SE but I won't get a low series Nokia because they suck, especially when they are overpriced.
 
in terms of features

w800. all the 3250 has is s60, and thats it. the w800 has a better form factor, mp3 player, camera. o and the card can go up to 2gb (which is cheap) and soon 4.
 
Thanks for the advice. Now that I look at it, I think I'm going to pop in a bit more money and get the w810, for the quad-band.
 
in my openion ..... 3250 is way better than the w810 and cheaper too !

i think music wise they are both the at the same level !!!!

actually i know that the 3250 is louder when it comes to speaker ..... and it supports more files formats ! and its a S60 smart phone so welcome to more advanced games and programs plus the UI itself is alot better and more featured than the SE ..... the camera is really good but the SE are better .... the screen is bigger and better ! more usefull as a movie player

the build quality is amasing for the 3000 series but its really solid and good

only advan. for the w810 is the quadband and the macro mood .... otherwise 3250 is better
 
Well, its when your mood changes are very close together, thus in between you are having what we professionals refer to as a macro mood.
 
no, I don't think so, but on ebay there are some non OEM faceplates/back covers for sale .

Otherwise its looks to me like the gold casing of the W750i has exactly the same dimensions, so that could be a possibility as well.
 
i myself enjoyed the 3250 more then the w810
3250 got nicer screen only thing bad is the camera otherwise it owns & feels great.
 
What do you mean about the camera for the Nokia, dvx? I'm actually trying to make the exact same decision as the original poster.

I went to mobileisgood.com and saw the pictures posted for those phones, they both look fine to me, but I'm curious as to what you mean exactly. Thanks.

I've actually had the chance to try out both phones and I decided to stick with the w810i. I found the 3250 to be a bit bulky and uncomfortable to carry around. The design of the 3250 is different and fun, but for me, the novelty wore off rather quickly.
 
i like the mp3,screen & the fun design on 3250

the camera,battery and size is better on w800i.

also the keypad on 3250 is great
but the camera on 3250 lacks flash and is poor on macro mode.
