My phone keeps freezing when I am using it for various reasons and saying insert smartchip. it will not go away and i have to restart the phone to get it back up. This happens about 15-20 times a day it depends on how much I use it. I have taken out the battery and sim card, and it doesn't make a difference. I have not dropped in water or severly dropped it on the ground, I have had for a little less than a year. I have no idea why, and would like to know if there is a way to fix it before buying a new one. And, what is a smartchip anyway? Is it the sim card? or not? Any help is appreciated.
I myself am not sure what a "smart chip" is either, but I would recommend you try updating to the latest firmware via SEUS, which can be downloaded here. If no option to update is available, try re-applying the current firmware, as it may just be a hickup in the firmware that is causing this. If this dosn't work, it is most likely a fault in the hardware and this will need to be taken care of by Sony Ericsson themselves. So long as the phone is in good condition and it is still under warrenty, you shoulds have no problems getting it replaced. You can reach Sony Ericsson Customer Services here.
