Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Symbian S60 5th edition and Apps?

I am aware that with the Vivaz you can download apps from Sony Ericsson's PlayNow service, but will any application for the OS work? If so, where do you get these from and how easy is it to put these on the device?

P.S. I don't currently own the phone, I am considering buying it
