Sony Ericsson T707 - The internet won't turn off!?

My Sony Ericsson T707 phone constantly shows that I am using the internet, and as I don't have a data plan, I would like to know how to turn it off and make the world looking icon disappear on the screen. I don't want to be charged for using it when I'm not! Can anyone help? Thanks.
