i really love the look of this phone and i can get one now for $150. I live in Illinois and have cingular service. If i get this phone, will i be good for service locally and if i travel around the US? i'm not sure of the band that cingular is on in illinois and am concerned about the quality of reception i will get with it. Thank you very much!:)
 
Cingular uses 850/1900 Mhz.

The S710a uses 850/1800/1900 Mhz.

So yes, the phone would be ideal for your service.
 
thank you very much. it appears you have the s710a, how do you like this phone? how is the battery life on it? *i have heard mixed reviews* also, is there any way to use MS Pro Duo's now? i haven't been keeping up with the cell phones but last time i remember people were trying to use ms pro duo. has this been successful?
 
one more thing really quick. you have the w810i also. how would you compare the 2 phones? if you HAD to pick just one of them, which would you take?
 
I'm a fan of the swivel form factor. Battery life is good depending if it's new or not. I still use the current battery that I originally had. It's just that since it's been used for a while, it gets drained faster. I just got a new battery, and it's been good. The camera on the S710a is still one of the best, so that's a strong point for me.

You can't use Pro Duo, only the regular Memory Stick Duo. Some people told me that the nothing can be done for the phone to recognize Pro Duo's with hex editor because it's a hardware issue. But I'd rather find out for myself. So I got a 2nd S710a to work on.

It would be hard to compare the W810i and the S710a. Clearly, the size is very different. The UI on the W810 is more up to date. And of course, it does have a 2.0MP. There are alot more differences. just read up on the reviews and such on some sites. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with the W810i. If anyone else is wondering, yes I'd choose this even over the K790a (which I had used for about 2 months), just because it suits my needs more.

In any case, either choice you make is pretty well off.
 
i have been at home sick *senior in highschool* the last few days and i've been looking around at phone reviews and there are definetly a lot of pros to both phones, i just can't decide on which one i want more.if the s710a accepted ms pro duo i would have gotten it already but yea i'm not sure if that is a deal breaker. oh well, thank you very much for your insight on my "situation" :D
 
It is considered a step down from the S710a in some ways, but have you considered the W600i? Even though I have a W810, my W600 is still my primary phone.
 
if i'm going to go with a swivel phone, i would get the s710a. the w600i doesn't have expandable memory, has a smaller screen and to be completely honest with you, i almost am sure that i want either the w810i or the s710a. i just need something to push me over the edge of either one.
 
any good sites to get OEM brand new unlocked cell phones? i've checked out cellular-blowout.com and myworldphone.com just wondering if there are any i have missed. thank you for your trouble and i appreciate all your help
 
I usually just get mine from buy.com or Amazon. If not, I check out eBay or Craigslist for bargains.
 
one quick question. i ended getting the s710a and i can't seem to get games to run in the full screen? any way to get them to be full screen?
