OK So i used to be a huge sony ericsson fan I had the w900i then the k790a but the volume on that k790a was horrible I could never hear the person on the other end so I decided to give the nokia n73 a chance I do love howloud the phone is, but the phone sucks it crashes all the time and its slow.

I was thinking about the p1

I want somewhat of a smartphone with a touch screen and a 3mp camera at least.

I hear the p1 is pretty loud.

any suggestions for other phones maybe? thanks in advance guys

Whats wrong with the keypad I'm guessing its just like t9 on a standard phone but easier since theres 2 letters per key so the t9 is probably a lot more accurate? I heard it just takes getting used to...

the keypad is a "love it" or "hate it" sort of thing. As you use it more and more you get used to it (it's the same as the m600). If you want other reviews on the keypad you can search the UIQ / Sony forums for threads about the m600 keypad and it should give you a general idea of what to expect from the P1.

The keypad is less an issue as the stability and usefulness of the OS. The previous round of UIQ devices all had issues and bugs (and still do today despite a NUMBER of firmware updates); most of these stemmed from memory issues, which the P1 shouldn't have.

As far as smartphones with touchscreen and 3.2 cam, it's one of the few out there and SE is still the best with the cameras, so it should be a decent buy.

Personally, I love the keypad and find it extremely easy to use. T9 is useless since it's qwerty

I don't think the price difference between the P1 and M600i is worth it however, but since I already have the M600, I'm looking at it from a different perspective. It's not worth the upgrade (especially since I haven't missed having a camera in the M600), but it may be worth it to someone who doesn't own an M600

OK I'm getting really sick of my nokia n73.

so i need to know now if i should buy this p1 or not,

anyone know about the volume on it? because the volume on the k790a was horrible and i could never hear the person on the other line?

I was thinking maybe smartphones arent for me? because i cant stand the lagginess on it, if this phone is faster than the n73 as in it doesnt lag as much and its loud enough than ill definitely buy it.

i was curious whats the best nonsmartphone out right now that has a good camera on it? thanks

UIQ is still laggy when opening up the programs initially. The thing with the p1i is that it has enough memory to keep programs open, and then you can switch.

Smartphones are almost always slower" than their "dumb"phone counterparts (like the k790 and the likes).

Best cam on a non smartphone is the k790 (or the other 3.2 auto focus cybershot cams). The new one by Sony (forgot the model #) will have 5mp.

yes but is this phone loud? the main reason why i switched from the k790a to the nokia n73 was because the k790a's alarm never woke me up in the morning and i could never hear the other person on the other end of the phone. whereas the nokia n73 is really loud and clear.

thanks.
