My father has never been part of my life and I have no intention of inviting him to my wedding. My grandfather and uncle both died years ago and I have no brothers. There is simply no one else I consider important enough to have a dance with.

My fiance wants to dance with his mom and has suggested I dance with his dad. At first I thought it would be a little weird, but the idea has grown on me.

However, I am left with the question, what song??

Any suggestions?

how about something like this::
"moonlight serenade"
"It had to be you"
both by frank sinatra

"the sweetest love" by robin thicke
I couldn't really find anything. I suggest you just pick a normal song that you can dance to. It doesn't have to have any meaning behind it.
Sorry! good luck!

Have you talked to your father-in-law about this? If so, he is the one that needs to pick the song. That's normally how it goes.
I am going to dance with my dad and then dance with my step dad, because he has pretty much been my dad since I was little.

Usually, it's the dad that gets to pick the song anyway. Let him decide what he would like to dance too.

Since he is not your actual father, I would say do NOT pick anything too emotional. I think "What a wonderful world" would be perfect! It captures the essence of the day rather than the lifetime of memories.

I had a similar situation....

My dad has always been absent and my hubby's mom had passed away. So we did an in law dance too.

Just have it be his favorite song...

We did the dances at the same time (so one song). Maybe you could dance at the same time to whatever his parents "song" is... as a tribute to their marriage (if it's a good one) and have the DJ say something about how you hope to learn from them, etc. Let people know that it's "their song", etc.
