My son is 22. I've had a hard time getting him to look for a job. I don't care about him living at home and it doesn't cost much to support him. But he's 22 years old and needs to grow up and support himself.
He's not a bad kid but just unmotivated no matter what I do.
Yesterday he told me he wants to hitchhike around the US and play his guitar for money. I don't think he'll be safe or able to make enough. He is a VERY good guitarist but life on the streets is hard. He want's me to get him a good backpack, guitar case, and ticket to Portland, Or.
I'm inclined to give it to him (for work done around the house) but I worry about him and am afraid he'll die or get seriously sick or injured.
I've told him to research it and show me how much he can make locally. I don't think I can really tell him no. I'm wandering if you think I should help him start out and if you have any advice on how he should do this in an intelligent fashion.
Thank you.
