and fire? Hello. I was translating a VERY old manuscript into English. The manuscript was containing old alchemical information. Here is the rough translation of it:
" According to Aristotle, Mercury (the element, as liquid) under the influence of the immovable and renewing wind (I'm guessing the air around it, not actual gusts of wind) will gather itself into a spherical shape (maybe even solid), when put in water or in fire."
This is a very rough translation because the language was very old. The manuscript goes on to say something about dye (color) which I cannot follow.
Has anyone heard anything like this at all? Anything similar?
You're help would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much.
