A few months ago I felt that my left knee was a bit weak, I didn't think much of it and because of my exams I was busy studying for it for the next month or so. 2 weeks after the holidays however, I began to feel this weakness again. It felt like my left knee was about to give way and is weaker than my right knee. Whenever I sat and moved my knee I felt a tiny vibration. Today when I woke up, I tried to walk and my left knee kept having this cracking sound and had the usual weakness. I went to a family doctor who told me to go to a specialist, although he did mention that this might be a case of the recurrent sublaxation of the patella. According to him its only treatable via physiotherapy and even so it might come back. I just got a few questions about this issue.
1)Are there any alternative treatments besides physiotherapy? And how is the therapy like.
2)Will this affect my mobility? I'm 16 this year and don't want this to affect my life.
3)I'm travelling next friday and I'm wondering if its a good choice or not.
The doctor said that it wasn't that serious but the word "recurring" and "physiotherapy" really got to me. Thanks alot for your help
