...community, he has rang my house numerous times, verbally abused me in public, told people i have had a nervous breakdown etc and is still slandering my name in public, what can i do to put a top to this?. i am totally stressed out about this and it is affecting my relationship with my husband. i am going to see my doctor tomorrow because i am so stressed out.
would sending him a solicitors letter help?

You are correct in making a visit to your Doctor in the first instance, explain when you are with your GP =all = the concerns you have, take the advice given by GP,and go from there,
if you are still having problems with this person then the police need to be informed, personal visit by you to the police station to formalise the complaint, , then =important= follow up your visit with a letter for the attention of the senior police officer outline to already made complaint and the date you made this at the station keep a file copying yourself, remember some solicitors in the UK give free advice if needed it may be wise to seek legal advice on this as well.. Good luck my friend.

i would get the police involved, note down when and where things happen like verbal abuse etc for proof and try not to be around this person, sounds like harrassment to me so i would go to the police about this

Hi, I would go to the police station and report every incident, every time he abuses you. Have a diary as well and write everything down then you have evidence, also if anyone hears him i would ask if they would be a witness for you. What is wrong with this person, he must need psychiatric help... going to your doctor is good, he will be able to help you with your stress, also you will have it on report at the doctors about your predicament. Go to local Citizens Advice they will advise you on what legal action you can take, but you must report every incident to the police so you have proof. I know it is hard but do try to ignore him when he starts to abuse you in public just walk away, Good Luck. x
