Someone define for me RANT vs asking a question based on facts and evidence.?

Should we make a rule you can't accuse a person of a rant with a rant?

I would submit that my questions can sound like a rant to those who have just woken up from a 2 year coma. Does this mean before I ask a question I need to say what facts and evidence lead up to my question? If I do that will you nut job blind following sheep stop calling saying I am ranting?
 
A rant is one of two things:
1) Not asking a question at all, but "making a point".

For example, your "details" here make it clear that you just want to complain about people reporting your questions. You aren't genuinely interested in learning what a question that doesn't violate the TOS looks like.

2) Asking a question, and then answering it.

Both of these usually involve phrasing the question on uneven footing, or even presenting a loaded question like:

"Who kills more babies, Bill or Hillary?"

This question is, in fact, not seeking an answer at all. It is intended to force answerers to reaffirm the belief that one or the other kills babies.

Yes, I do realize that the vast majority of "questions" in this section are rants.

If you find yourself citing sources, making points, etc... you are probably ranting, and following the rant with a question.
 
It is really quite simple. If the question is one the reader agrees with, it is a question based on fact and evidence. If it is a question the reader doesn't agree with, it runs the chance of being labeled a rant. Does that clear it up for you?
