some thug snatched my new Htc evo 4G phone is there anyway we can find him?

The cops aren't much help and we called sprint and they dis-activated the phone but I really want it back -just the thought of that mans slimy fingers on my phone makes me so angry-

is there any hope for me?

p.s I know there are apps that you can download from the android market but thats no longer an option for me since I no longer have my phone with me.
