Hello everyone,
Some of you may already know me from the PM board.
I have some questions I am hoping perhaps I can get some opinions on.
I will start by saying I am a mess so I will make this as easy to understand as possable.
At the present I am going for ESIs on the C&T areas, not much success. I have very little ROM at times in my left arm. I have CP in my left side, with lots of spasms & pain in the ribs/chest & that area.
Lately I have noticed an increase in back pain. Usually mid but I am really having some strange sensations in my legs, mostly left but can be both & alot of hip pain @ times. Now the reason I have chose to pay all of you a visit is I went to a naturalistic doctor months ago, very good reputattion, infact he travels through the states at times. Anyway the one thing he was adamant about it lower back problems. The one area I have never had looked into.
So I have had an increase in pain, at times my whole back can just hurt & I have been having more issues with my legs, I am beginning to quesion it. Such as exactly what problems can occur with problems existing in the lower Thoracic & in the lurabar areas? Like how far up in the actual body can the lurabar cause problems in. My Pm is thinking the thoracic may be contibuting to the chest & shoulder issues so I was just thinking what can cause what when you get lower down towarRAB the lurabar.

I have been having some nurabness & tingling in the legs & feet. The other day had a cold sensation in my feet, more the left, it came & went. Strange.
I am beginning to wonder If I could have more problems in the spine then we orginally thought. With my line of work I have lifted for many years twice my own weight at times. So I would not be surprised. I am hoping you all can share any knowledge you have, I would really appreciate any input. I want to learn abit before approaching my PM, so I thought this would be a good place to start. Thanks everyone, Sammy

An easy way for you to access this information would be to find a dermatome chart online. You will see that the lurabar nerve roots control movement and sensation below the waist. If you have pain and/or odd sensations that run down the back of your thigh, knee and calf, it is caused by the Lurabar 4 nerve root in most people. If it is a bottom of the foot thing, it is usually the Sacral 1 (S1) nerve root. Etc.

Sometimes piriformus muscle syndrome will mimic the pain of sciatica. This would be separate from any problems you are having with tingling, nurabness, etc. above waist level, in your arms and fingers.

Run a search for dermatome and you will find charts that will show the various nerve roots and what parts of the body they refer out to....

Thanks, I have heard of the charts so will give it a whirl. Hopefully I cant piece some of this together. I appreciate your response, Sammy

Hi, it depenRAB on what kind of leg symptoms you are having, but compression in the neck (cervical) area can also cause problems in the legs. I had a coworker who started out having problems in her right hand & arm and it just progressed to her having trouble walking. She had alot of leg weakness. Long story short, it took a while, but she finally had a neck MRI..and she had a huge central herniation at one level in her neck, which was causing all her hand, arm, and lower body problems. She had to have a diskectomy and a spine fusion at that level and is now doing much better.
