Some PS2 and PS3 questions...?

1) Can the new PS2 Slim read the old Playstation memory card? I know the old fat PS2 can.

2)How good is the 40/80gb PS3 Playstation 1 backwards compatibility? Any issues when trying to play old Playstation games?
