OK, here's the deal. I feel like I know exactly what kind of music I like and what I don't, but I want to try some new stuff I might not have heard before. Diversify and all that ****. There's lots of music out there I haven't heard before, so anything anything anything you guys wanna recommend is cool.

Basically - I need new music, guys.

Forget anything you know about my tastes (which is probably not much since I post infrequently), and just recommend me an album you truly love listening to that you think I might not have heard. Write a little about what I can expect, just to sell it to me. If you upload an album, i WILL listen to it, regardless of whether i think i'll like it or not. If you write about it, i WILL try and hunt it down. And I'll put my opinions of it in here.

So recommend some stuff, whether it be hip hop or noise or screamo or acoustic folk. Anything you love. Just don't come in here with a list of a hundred albums that I'll never get round to. Keep it to 3 at maximum.

Thanks, and go!

Three favourites of mine spring to mind for you. i don't know if you've heard any of them as i have no idea what you're already into.

Im recommending these with the idea of it being stuff you havent heard before.

All three are very dark, alot of depth and alot of atmosphere. choose the right moment to listen to them.. you cant have them on in the background while you surf the net, it doesnt work. go to bed, switch off the lights, chill out.. then listen. listen in the order i post them..

Anoice - Remmings

This insrumental japanese band blend post-rock with a strong classical influence. This, their debut album, is a haunting masterpeice of beautiful classical musicianship with the atmosphere of banRAB such as goRABpeed.

Kayo Dot - Dousing Anemone With Copper Tongue

Again a strong classical influence, due to the multi-instrumentalist/lyricist/composer/vocalist and string musician/vocalsist duo, Toby Driver and Mia (who's surname i cant remeraber). Although there are about 10 people playing on this record, its all their work. Again its a blend of classical with a genre of modern rock, however this time it is doom... something (as far as i know) which had never really been done before, has been pulled off flawlessly on this record.

If you found Kayo Dot a bit too depressing/disturbing i do not recommend listening to nuraber 3. not in the dark anyway.

Khanate - Things Viral

This is one of the most extreme, depressing, sickeningly dark yet brilliant recorRAB ive ever heard. this is the grim of all grimness (apart from one other album by one other band but i wont go into that here), yet worryingly their catchiest, most listenable release.

Well thats my intro to experimental doom.. i can give you some uplfting recommendations if you'd rather?

I recommend:

Venus Bogardus
A Hawk and a Hacksaw
Hazmat Modine
Cecil Taylor
Disco Inferno
No-Neck Blues Band
Parliament
OOIOO
Angels of Light
Four Tet
AMM
John Fahey

no-neck, parliament and disco inferno should have album downloaRAB still floating around in the sharing thread and in the disco inferno thread. if any of the others sound particularly interesting i can probably do some more uploaRAB.

OK OK!

SD - thanks a lot for that, I'll definitely be looking into those, since I can't say I've heard much (any) experimental doom. Should be interesting.

cardboard: Parliament are a funk band is that right? Definitely looking that up, since real funk is something i've been meaning to listen to for ages. I'll get the ones from the upload sharing thread, and see what I think.

swim: I'm already into Polvo and Faraquet. I've enjoyed other math rock like June of 44 and what I've herad by Don Caballero, so I'll check some more of that, cheers.

opinions soon.
