Some Info Please on " Hemangiomata"

I went to pick up a coipe of my MRI report, and it stated that i had
" incidental introsseous Hemangiomata in L1, L2 Vertebral bodies "

I looked up some basic info and stated something like a Lesion are tumor ?

I have been seeing 2 doctors a spinal doc, and neuro. They are thinking i might have spinal ms. My most recent visit to doc he NEVER mentioned this to me as well as i had 2 hernited sdisc in my middle back.
I went in for a spinal tap ( waiting for results)

PLease if someone know somethings about this subject can you shed some light for me .

What these can do to you, will they cause this bad back pain in lower back and the weaknes in mt thighs?

i have never seen that particular way of calling what i am assuming is in actuallity a hemangioma of some sort(just never heard of an actual 'hemangiomata") actually in the bone process there? it is usually just "hemangioma'. but when it states it is 'intraosseous,that means "in the bone". so this is not like on a nerve or actually in the cord itself,it is simply part of the make up of your bone there. in this case it would be mostly a congenital defect or malformation. mine was actually IN my cord. a much more dramatic area as far as what it can do. from what i ahve been reading here mostly on the "in the bone' types,the risks are pretty minimal? it could conceivably cause some level of pain since it IS in the bone there. in some spots,depnding upon location,they wont casue any pain. location is everything with these little suckers(i do think your herniated discs would be much worse as far as pain goes). they are just tiny globs of venous fed vessels that are usually formed pre birth? i don;t know whether or not the ones in the bone can actually ooze or not,but the ones that occur in other areas can and sometimes do,but they are very small only becasue it is a low pressure type vascular lesion. it is not a real tumor or anything like that,the are simply blood vessels that formed within and area that they are not supposed to be in.

i do know there are others here who have hemangiomas within their vertebrae too so someone should be able to give you more detailed info with these types. by the way,the angiomas are NOT in any way connected to any types of MS. they are something totally unrelated and just for you,an incidental finding they saw on your films so it was simply noted as an incidental finding,something they saw so it was noted type thing. hopefully this shouldn't cause you any real huge problems since most wont where you have yours. it can in some cases,just cause a slight weakening of that one particular vertebrae simply becasuse that whole bone is just not totally "solid",but nothing real dramatic or anything. good luck with everything road.marcia
 
I also have several hemangiomas...within the bones of my spine. They were discovered during MRI's I have had... I was told not to worry about them.... I was upset at first...especially when told to forget about them, they sound pretty nasty...but I have been told they are fairly harmless... Well...that doesn't sound very reassuring..but, I have done as the Dr. suggested and I do not worry about them... I am sorry that you are having to deal with so much, MS diagnosis and all...Please try not to worry about the hemangiomas...so far..I have had no problems with them.

Several years ago my granRABon had a Hemangioma on his scalp. It looked like a red rasberry. The family was all worried sick that he might have Cancer. The dr said it was a hemangioma and they are always benign. He had surgery and it was removed. He has never had any more problems with it.

Hemangiomas...my MRI showed them too, but couple of DRs told me not to worry, this is just little harmless systs, they don't have tendency to turn to something bad.
But it's all depenRAB on sizes and particular case. If they bigger in size than just common systs or they keep growing, than you really need attention of specialist.
Based on info you provided, your Dr calls it leasions than they may be more syspecious than just a syst...
