...9/11...thoughts? I was looking up stuff online the other day about posttraumatic stress disorder and children and whatnot, and I came across the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. I realized when I first went to their site that there was a lot of emphasis on terrorism and how to prepare for and recover from a possible attack, how to help your kids through seeing traumatic war and terror stuff in the media, that kind of thing. I was kind of wondering what ever happened to plain old child abuse and common forms of childhood traumatization, and they do also include that stuff, of course. Then I read up on how the network was formeed, and when. It was started in 2000, and really took off in 2001. Former White House dude Tommy Thompson is even quoted on the page as saying how important this is since 9/11 happened. But I'm sure that the creation of such a government agency just before 9/11 is a total coincidence.
