Hey, I'm thinking about getting a new bike. I've ridden about 30 different walmart bikes, and have been riding for about 9 years. I recently tried one of my local shop's bikes, and WOW it was so light and very smooth, I think it was a mountain bike of some sort, it only had one fork.
Anyway! I'm looking into a road bike, around $1,000 (prefer it to be less) doesn't have to be brand new, but newish. so here are my questions:
I'm 6', 175lbs, and have an inseam of about 32" - 33". what frame / wheel size should I look for? I also heard that some bike brands size differently, is this true? And how?
Is there anything I shouldn't get? Like in the motorcycle world, there are some bikes that are WAY too powerful for a newbi.
What are the best components I should look for? And will I have to switch anything out on the bike? Or will the components be pretty good if it's already a decent bike i.e. Trek?
What are the main / most reliable / durable bike brands? In the motorcycle world we have, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, BMW etc. And what are some that would generally be in my price range?
Thanks guys and gals, I hope this weather warms up quickly!
