Some 1991 Dodge Spirit questions?

Ok, I'm in college and my parents just bought me a 1991 Dodge Spirit, it's a V6 3.0L with a 4-Speed Automatic. I'm in a completely different state for college so I have not seen the car and they intend to drive the car down to me. So my questions are as follows;

1) What are the most common issues with this kind of car?
2) What is the best way to prevent these problems?
3) Is the transmission equipped with overdrive (Heard yes and no)?
4) What is the fuel economy (Kelly Blue Book only gave that for the 4-Cylinders)?

1) its a domestic POS -- i had a 95 neon that frequently flushed me out of money bc it doesnt want to drive.
2) sell the car and buy an import
3)depends on the trim LS,SE, stuff like that u can check at msn autos
4) its usualy 2-6 less mpg if its going from a 4cyl to a 6cyl
 
The most common issue is transmission failure, it has the same engine and transmission as a Dodge Caravan. The engines are great and have decent power, will go 300k miles if maintained. The transmissions are super weak and in the Caravan they normally fail under 100k miles but should last longer in the Spirit as long as you don't drive it hard since they are lighter. The best way to prevent problems with the transmission and make the car last longer is maintenance, change the transmission fluid and filter, change the engine oil and filter..the usual. If it is a 4-speed auto then yes it is an over drive since it would only have 3-speeds if it didn't have over drive. Not the worst car on earth if you look after it then it will look after you.
