I love to go mountain biking for several miles. However I as well as other people have had punctures whilst on my journey which has meant me walking back home.

I know that there is now a sludge that you can put in your inner tube. Is this any good and what other options are there for this type of accident.

Years and year’s ago I watched a programme on BBC television called Tomorrows World.
In this one particular program it showed where the inner tube was replaced by (my description) a hula hoop type of tube. It prevented punctures being hard plastic and need never being pumped up but at the same time it was as comfortable as a normal inner tube?

Any advice appreciated.

carry a spare tube with you on any long cycles and a pump etc. normally takes me anout 20 mins to sort it out when i get a puncture on the road.

20 min? Woose. The club record stands at just under 3 mins.

Anyway. You want slime tubes. However, you might also consider a thicker tyre/tube. Failing that, you can get a Slime strip to put between tyre and tube.

That said, Go tubeless. The self repairing sludge for these is pretty good (Demo shows man knocking a nail through sidewall).

Anyway, Slime is the cheep way to do this. However, clean out your tyres once per month, in order to get rid of thorns etc and repair inner tube. Replace your inner tube every 6 months.

Carry a spare tube and a puncture repair kit with you (A small torch is also advisable for night riding).

Luck
