Bought my Wii for $249 at Target this morning. I was number 37 of 42. I arrived and signed up on the list at 3am.
Target opened their doors at 7am and began sales at 9am. They let 5 people in the store at a time. Target made the mistake of letting people WITHOUT A TICKET into the store before all ticket holders were in the store. Jerks were running to take all the accessories and games they could get their hands on!
I brought the Wii home and immediately posted it on craigslist. There were 10 Wii listings. There were also 2000 Wii listings on ebay which consisted of about 90% Pre-Order listings.
I started with a pretty high price of $800 for:
Wii Console
Wiimote
Wii Classic Controller
Zelda Twilight Princess
Trauma Center - Second Opinion
This didnt take at all and I gradually lowered the price over the course of the day.
Around 3pm I changed the price to $400 for the system. I had bills to pay and needed my money back from the system by monday so I priced it to sell. Most Wii's were being listed at $600 which I had not gotten a response for, so I sold it below the average sale price on ebay. Considering the dramatic drops in prices for the PS3 after the first 24 hours I didnt want to take the risk of not selling the Wii today. There are also tons more Wii's available at this launch than the PS3. 4 million should be released before christmas and there will probably be more shipments any day now.
At this point (3pm) there were 12000 listings on ebay. Right now there are 16500 listings (8pm) cst.
I still have a wiimote, classic controller, zelda and trauma center second opinion available. I am selling those on ebay just above retail so I can get rid of them.
In hindsight, I probably should have sold the wii for $500 but I cant turn back time.
