Soft Reset Auto "Go To" Apps Question

:D !

OK - I remember an app called "AutoExec" which was freeware and would, upon soft reset, allow you to start any app that needed changing immediately (like the new "FullPower," discussed on another thread). Can no longer find AutoExec in a newer or older version on Freeware Palm. Bummer.

I remember dropping it when I went to the T3 for some reason . . . and there is another I've just auditioned called "Soft Reset," which for some reason caused a hotsync crash.

What I'm looking for - and one of you I'm sure can help - is an app that calls up one and preferably two "have to set after soft reset" apps of my choosing, but does not interfere with the loading of hack managers - in other words, provides a short delay before opening. This was the beauty of "AutoExec" -- you could set the number of seconds before startup to coincide with YAHM, TealMaster and TealScript "auto-loading."

Is there such an animal? I've googled myself into a tizzy here and may reload an old version of auto exec, but I remember it had "glitches" of some kind in OS5. Thanks to anyone who has such an app, f/ware or commercial. Thanks!

OK, loaded AutoExec 2.00 from archives and it seems to be working fine (??). Site is at:

http://palmbytes.tripod.com/

and I'll post the zip below since it's freeware. Let me explain what happens on one of MY soft resets and why a 15 second delay is important (you can specificy a time with AutoExec). This may help some of you decide to try this app:

1. TealMaster box launches in 1 second.
2. YAHM gives a box counting down 5 seconds, and I hit "ok" immediately.
3. I'm then presented with Palm Time & Date screen, and hit "ok."
4. Prefs come up, and I uncheck "show graffiti."
5. I zoom down to "SyncBack" and "disable/enable" to start it again. SyncBack launches MobileDB (or any app you choose) after a HOTSYNC.
6. That takes around 13 seconds if I'm quick. At 15 seconds, "FullPower" comes up and I can change battery settings (it resets to default).

Only thing missing is "AlwaysOn," which I set to 10 minutes for auto shut-off. That's no biggie, I can adjust later - but a "second go-to" with AutoExec would take care of everything.

Good grief you are quick. I foud it on palm gear and was trying to let you know, and well you found it. Hope it works well.

Thanks GP! What puzzles me is I have it noted in my "archived apps database" to "be careful - occasional bad results." I can't remember for the life of me what they were - but I've got a somewhat more "complicated" reset procedure than most and this helps to solve it. Hopefully it will help others. "SoftReset" doesn't allow for the TIMING of 1) a dialog box to cancel and 2) how long to delay before launching. It is important for people trying this to set those correctly and allow a "margin," at least in the beginning . . . or youcould end up with an endless loop of problems! Be sure and read the instructions/read me/html before setting it.

I set "dialog to cancel" to NONE, and the 2nd option to 15 seconds - but most of you won't need this long a delay as you want everything "up and running" as quickly as possible. I've just got a lot of crap to restart due to running 2 hack managers. I should explain that TealMaster runs TealLaunch only, and YAHM runs two OS5 hacks that won't run in T/Master - namely No Dot Hack (makes lines under edited text invisbile) and NoBeamDialog Hack (eliminates that annoying "do you want to turn Bluetooth/beaming on?" box).

Thanks so much anyway GuitarPicker for trying to get me the info - I'm still looking for another "tiered" one if possible, to allow for several apps to be restarted upon a soft reset. Maybe an email to Tealpoint, Florent Pillet or Peter Easton is in order . . . . !!
