I recently installed the palm one software for a wireless keyboard. when I did so I lost the soft keyboard on the screen. I also have lost the small gray box at the bottom of the screen that has the four icons and the abc/123 choices. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?? I can't use the Palm with out the wireless keyboard now.

If the input area is hidden, select Input on the status bar to open it.

Look on page 64 of the user guide for the instructions on using the onscreen keyboard.

For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

There are links on the page to the user guide, troubleshooting, how to's, downloads, etc.

The user guide is available on the home tab on that page.

Have you tried a soft reset by pressing the reset button on the back of the TX? Try that first and see if it will recover the status bar.

I have not heard of loading a keyboad driver causing this issue. Are you sure you are using the correct driver for your keyboard?

If the soft reset does not recover the status bar, you will need to hard reset the TX then to get the device back to factory condition. The hard reset will erase all data on the handheld so make sure you have sync'ed to the PC to back up your data that is on the TX.

Another question for you.
Are you sync'ing the TX to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older Palm device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.

I have done a hard reset, but not a soft reset. When I did the hard reset the status bar comes back. However, when you sync it back up the status bar disappears. I will try a soft reset. I am using the software that came with the keyboard. When I load it up there is only the mac or pc choice.

If the status bar comes back after the hard reset and then is gone after a sync, this indicates there is something in the backup folder that is being sync'ed back that is causing the corruption.

I don't see the answer to my question regarding sync'ing to the same username in Palm desktop as an older/different model Palm device. Have you done this?

What is the make and model keyboard you are using and installing the drivers for?
