Sociology and anthropology are not the same thing and very few schools offer them as a combined major. I majored in anthropology and thought it was very interesting. In the USA, when you study anthropology you are required to study things from all four subfields, so you'll be studying archeaology, culture anthropology (deals mostly with cultures that exist today), linguist anthropology (language), and physical/biological anthropology (everything from diseases to the human body to primates).
If you're seriously considering anthropology as a major, you really should sit down with someone in the anthropology department at your school discuss possible future careers.
