Soaking mixture for fresh cleaned fish?

Used to use a mixture that I soaked catfish, and bluegill fillets in overnight to draw out oils and strong fishy taste. Remember for sure I used one gallon of water, but I'm unsure of the proportion of salt and baking soda that I mixed with the water. I think it was 3 tablespoons of salt and 1 of baking soda. Is anyone out there familiar with this solution. Would be thankful if someone could refresh my faded memory. Thank you so much.
