Two words: Market share. The cheaper it is, the more people buy it. The more people that buy it, the bigger the market share you own. The bigger the market share you own, the more money you make.



No, $840 sounds right to me. The Xbox 360 was also far more expensive than it's selling price when it was released.
 
are you that dumb? You do know that with most items, there is usually 2x+ mark up from manufacturer to retailer? Comparing the cost of manufacturing to actual retail price is even higher.
