I started celexa less than a month ago and I have noticed that I have some weird symptoms going on. It doesnt help that I am currently on prednisone and syrabicort for an infection i had but I do notice that after I take my celexa at night I am able to sleep okay then I wake up and am fine for a few hours then around 4 o clock or so I get these terrible head pressure symptoms. I dont know if my 10 mg dosage is too low.. (tried 20mg but wanted to see if i could do 10 mg) and I have been on 10 mg for at least a week or so... but I have noticed that I start to get these weird feelings in my head. The back of my head tightens and feels horrible then it goes from my jaw line up and down the sides of my face and around my eyes to the point where they feel like they are going to pop out and then i get the terrible pressure across the bridge of my nose like someone is pressing down. My neck hurts and when i go to turn I suddenly get this weird feeling like i get dizzy or light headed. I also have gotten really irritable the passed couple days to the point where I cant stand anyone or anything because i just become so aggrivated. I dont know if I should increase my dosage to 15 mg or 20 mg or what? Or if i should just try and taper off of this stuff completely. i just dont like the way i feel. and its NOT my sinuses. please help me! i feel like im dying everyday or something its terrible!

Hi - it takes about 6-8 weeks to get the full effect of celexa.....prior to that time, i would take one .5 mg of ativan at night until i felt better with the celexa. it really helped me during that period of waiting until the celexa started to work and i'd be getting all kinRAB of wierd pains and feelings....you are already taking other meRAB, so I don't know if you want to do that.....however, you may want to tell you doc what is happening at nite and see what he/she says......

i wish you all the best, c

I cant take ativan, it ended up making me worse the first time i took it. I do have xanax but I do not want to take it. I also took lexapro for about 3 months and then started taking the celexa so I dont know why I would get such undesirable effects but I think it might be because i took 10 mg lex and now im on 10 mg of celexa and the dosage equivalent is different. I dont know if i should up the dose or not.

My advice is to stick with it for a few weeks and if nothing improves, celexa might not be the AD for you. Have you tried anything other than lexapro and celexa? There are lots of options out there, and sometimes finding the right AD can be a bit of a process.

I'm currently working on a new treatment plan and so far my new AD hasn't been "enough" so my psychiatrist is looking into some new options for me. My first AD worked well right off the bat, but after a few years it started to wear off and I had to take more and more of it to get any effect. So, stick it out, but if your problems with celexa don't improve or go away maybe look at some other options with your doctor/psychiatrist!
