SO why is Xbox live and arcade points "still" so expensive still in Australia?

The Australian Dollar is slightly higher than the American Dollar so why is it that Microsoft are still charging the old exchange rate for their stuff ? it feels like somebody is ripping somebody off and it also seems slightly illegal for Microsoft to invent its own currency (points) that don't conform to the exchange rate of the world's current exchange rate. I've taken GST into account but its pretty clear Aussies and maybe other countries are getting ripped off by Microsoft ... thanks for reading.
