Are they too slow and will one grow out of it quickly??? Are 500cc and up better bikes to start out with???
What about a 1990 HONDA CBR 600 F4??? Is that to much bike for a 5'8 170sh lbs (ya i know im fat so what you wanna fight about it??). For me? IS IT???

Kawa:=high acceleration (low gearing for USA freeway entrys), high power, high maintenance, short good supply of parts period=chuckaways. Fairly solid and reliable motors, mostly. Handling-better than it used to be, electrics generally ok, OEM tyres -don't know qualities, paintworks ok, tend to be heavy bikes, large chain sizes should be used due to gearing and total power, noise level, reasonable these days, brakes-reasonable, lighting??? horn-pathetic historically. fueled range-too short because of gearing. similar motors tend to be reving harder than other makes for given speed.

OMG 170lbs. You must be joking. I am 250lbs. and can get well over 100mph, I have hit 90 just poking at the upper revs. But as far as around town you still have to make a great effort to stay below posted speed, it loves to cruise 55mph. If you are looking for a great commuter, that keeps your image looking good this is your bike... Just think, they are talking about $6 a gallon gas. Just think of all the jealous souls with 1100cc paying $20 to fill up their bike on a short commute. I can hit 65mpg with my 08 250 with all my weight... If you want to race, look the other direction naturally...
