so what's the difference between the composite cables the wii comes with and the component cables you can order. i heard all it does is change it from 480i to 480p, but if i only have a 1080i tv, will that even matter?

sorry. if you "only" have a 1080i tv you should have no problem receiving both a 480p and 480i signal, so yes it'll work at on your tv

Component is a much cleaner signal even on a standard tv. Get it if you have the inputs on your TV.

component >>>>> composite

i was under the impression that if i had a 1080i tv, it could only support 480,720, and 1080i. you're saying it can support 480 and 720p as well?

no, you need an edtv (enhanced definition) to get the most out of the wii, without it looking a little junky like it would on an hdtv

i'm sure it looks fine on whatever tv you put it on though

HDTV at 480p would look just as nice as an EDTV...EDTV just can't handle anything higher than that.

Bottom line is composite on either EDTV or HDTV will look like crap compared to component on both at 480p.
