So, what kind of Star Wars cartoon would you want to see?

Okay, we know we're going to get a new Clone Wars series and a (live-action) series that bridges the gap between Episodes III and IV. Needless to say, fans are split about the prospect of more Clone Wars (the Clone Wars is actually my favorite era, so I'm all for it). So, friends, what sort of Star Wars animated series would you want to see? What era should it cover? What familar faces should be in it? Should it adapt already exisiting novels and comics? Here's the place to voice your opinion.

I personally, can think of two I would like to see:

Shadows of the Empire: A mini-series adapation of the SotE novel/comics would be a most welcome sight. And best of all, Steve Perry, the author, has said over the years that he would like to see that too.

New Republic era: There's some good Post-Return of the Jedi stuff out there. A series that adapts some of the better stories would rock my world. It could start off adapting the X-Wing novels/comics, then move on through The Thrawn Trilogy, Dark Empire, The Jedi Academy trilogy, and so forth. It could end with the marriage of Luke and Mara Jade and the final treaty between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant. It probably should not get into The New Jedi Order. That's so big it would have to be a whole other series unto itself.

I guess this is just some fanboy rambling here.... but anyways, what's your opinions?

May the Force be with us.

One that's longer than three minutes, has a plot. Oh, and some actual dialogue would be nice.

And although this is probably asking too much, I would like to see something that doesn't continually rehash things that have done before. Since there aren't going to be anymore movies, the writers should only concern themselves with staying consistent with what's already canon, and not have to worry about things that might become canon later on. This would give them a huge advantage over the Star Trek franchise.

Anything after Episode IV. I'm really sick of all the prequel stuff. Those characters, and storylines just don't interest me nearly as much. Plus, as several other people have said, we already know pretty much everything that happens within the Clone Wars-time period.

I'm probably alone on this, but I wouldn't mind one DURING the original trilogy-- sort of like the old comics, starring Luke, Han, Leia, etc. I'm not a big Star Wars guy though, so there might already be lots of that out there, that I just haven't seen yet. I really enjoyed Shadows of the Empire as a book, so I'd like to see it as a TV show.

A series set after ROTJ would be okay too.

No more prequel stuff. For however awesome Tartakovsky's work was, watching them still leaves an unpleasant aftertaste of Jar Jar and midichlorians.

Just consider A New Hope the start of the series and do something based on events either parallel to or following the movies. Prequels always tend to make things worse, whereas sequels seem to be 50/50.

There's a massive amount of books and such set after the movies. Go that way and forget the prequels ever happened. The force is magic, Yoda was Obi-Wan's master, and Vader's ghost is an old man. That'd be grand.

A Knights of the Old Republic/Tales of the Jedi series could work well. One problem with setting anything around the movies is you have various restrictions. I'm not interested in a series where Luke almost but not quite faces Vader whilst the rebels are on the run. Likewise, a series set post ROTJ doesn't interest me because that side of the EU is terrible. Overdone Death Star wannabes and the Force being far too powerful. A series set back in the past could have some really interesting possibilities.

Star Wars Kids: The adventures of 10 year old Obi-Wan, Qui Gon, Yoda, R2D2 etc, trying to keep ahead of the school bully, 10 year old Darth Sidious and Baby Vader.

LOL! That could possibly make a good April Fool's joke over at theforce.net. :D

Hmmm, so far the consenus is something with the original trilogy crew (preferrably Post-RotJ) or Knights of the Old Republic. A KOTOR series would indeed be quite spiffy. Everybody loves good old KOTOR.

I'll agree that anything from New Jedi Order on is garbage. Trust me, anybody that's ever read NJO will never complain about the prequels again. :anime: Likewise, the Imperial-Warlord-and-his-doomsday-weapon-of-the-week got old. Still, there is some good stuff in there too. Hopefully, our hypothetical Post-RotJ series would separate the wheat from the chaff.

how about a series involving the Sith Wars? What i really want to see is a telling of how yoda became a jedi... basically his story, that would be cool. Didn't he grow up during the Sith Wars?

The only Star Wards toon I'd be interested in would have to include the cast from the original trilogy - Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia etc.

anything Post-epi VI, the New Republic era, New Jedi Order era or Legacy era would suffice, i think they've done the original trilogy era stories to death. time to move on.

I'd rahter have an animated series that took place twixt The Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope, to see how The Empire came to be and call it say, The Birth Of The Empire.

I'm all for animating some of the EU (Thrawn series, X-Wing stuff), the gap between III and IV has great potental for fun stuff. I haven't seen/played much of KOTOR but it would make an awesome series as well.

Maybe they should do an Animatrix type thing to see what peoples come up with. An Aardman Star Wars would be epic. XD
