So what file format should I be working in?

Looking for input on optimal file formats to be working in. I have a Nikon D60 and Photoshop CS2.

Of course there's RAW but, what other options should I consider? How about TIF?
 
TIF makes the picture weird and the colors messed up.
I use PNG, it keeps the colors the same and you can upload it almost everywhere.
