My dad always speaks of, "it sounds this way because it has a big ass cam in it!" Keep in mind, he grew up in the 70's-80's, and was into muscle cars big time. I understand that a car that sounds, at idle, like a monster, has a big cam.
My question is, what is a cam? I plan on getting a 1983 Z28 Camaro and I'd love to put a huge cam on it to make it sound great, and possibly increase its output as well. Any tips on where I would get one, what they would run, and what my best bet would be?
My dad I'm sure would put it on, as he is in LOVE with that kind of work, however I'm not sure exactly what the cam would do for a car.
