All the money they need, and they spend it all on the company...now they have all these cars setting around and nobody is buying them then what? No car sales, no jobs right? I was working for a major chain grocery store....sales dropped I got laid off whats the difference, GM is just wanting OUR money to save their jobs, I don't have one....why don't they go out and get another job? I'm looking.

a whole company is not YOU.

it doenst make sense what you're saying or even the way you're thinking.

well they are not going to improve the cars they will actually make them worse by using cheaper substandard parts to cut cost, as far as saving jobs it is a trickle down effect not just the manufacturers jobs but all of the small companies that produce products for them will also go out of business, millions of jobs around the world, thats what they are trying to save!! if they dont build cars then they wont need seats so the company that makes the seats for them wont have a reson to make seats and will lay people off and go out of business, thats the trickle down effect

Is this a question or a rant
Because MILLIONS of people will be looking for jobs if GM goes under

The reason why they need the money isnt to improve the product. The reason cars arent selling is because people cant get credit to buy them. You can thank those banks for that. The banks made all these bad lones that destroyed peoples credit and put them in tones of dept. Not helping out the auto industry is a really bad idea. If we didnt help them out or if the company went bust, unemployment would of risen to +24% nation wide. If that would of happened you probably still would of lost your job unfortunatly. if anything you should be enraged with the banks as they are the route of the problem, GM is just as much a victim as you.

Also some fool made mention of the hand out idea. That wont work, if you give a whole bunch of people a lot of money when times are uncertian they will just save it thus doing nothing to help. That wont help the auto industry (which accounts for tones of jobs in america). What if we did just hand out money and people actually did buy stuff? theres a huge chance that it would spent buying crap from china. That stimulates their economy not ours. The idea was to keep the auto industry alive because it supports so much of america, just giving out money wont help them unless they were mandated to buy an american car. You can cut out the middle man and possible complications if you just loan it to them directly.

Sorry about loosing you job though.

i think this whole bailout thing is a bunch of bull. obama could have given $40,000 to each family in the U.S. but hes giving it all to the companies. i think it would make much much more sense to give the money to the people so we can buy things so the companies dont go under than to give ti all to the companies. why give it to the companies if A. no one has money to buy cars, and B. everyone buys toyotas and hondas anyways??
