...of Compass...? It has an N at the top of the pendant with a marked bearing of 360, and an S at the bottom marked with a bearing of 180. In the middle it has some sort of white precious stone set in. I have little idea of how to use this, and was wondering if anybody knows what this item is called, and how to actually use it.

Also I have figure that it has something to do with the sun and moon perhaps as it, when reflected on a surface creates an image with two white lines formed by the refraction of light from the stone in the middle. This is all I have figured out :P

Any ideas?
