Hey guys!
Long time no see!
I was never a super-poster, but I was lurking around here a lot this time last year (giving out advice when I had it - which wasn't often). I had my Spinal Fusion back in Deceraber of 09, and am feeling about 50% better than I was this time last year (my day to day pain going from say - a 6 or 7 to only a 3
). This board has helped me out so much, I still come back here and read up on people occasionally - I'm a shy poster though. lol!
Here's what's weird - and let me know if you've heard of this....This past June, when I was bending over to pick up a bottle of pain pills to throw them out (Oh, the irony!) I heard this loud snap, and felt HORRIBLE sharp pain in my lower back. It was honestly a 9 or 10 - I can only compare it to the second day in the Hospital after my surgery when I was in agony. Couldn't walk or move much for days. Got an emergency appt. with the doc and - I broke one of the screws from my Fusion! What on earth...
I had broken the lower screw on the left hand side clear into two - it showed up crystal clear on the X-Rays. Doctor said that "sometimes happens"
. Apparently that happens when the patient doesn't fuse. I'm kinda confused as the doctor told me in April that I looked to have fused just fine....Oh well, as long as the pain has improved I'm happy.
I just think the whole breaking of Titanium Screws is kinda strange. I have pictures of the X-rays that I would love to post, but I can't remeraber if Pictures are allowed on healtrabroadoarRAB (for some reason I'm thinking not). I won't post them, but if someone knows if they're allowed, let me know.
Has anyone heard of this? How on earth did my body go about breaking a metal screw? Guess I'm stronger than I thought?
Thanks for your time!
XOXO
Can't remeraber if it's in my Sig - I had a level 1 fusion of S1-L5 back on Deceraber 29th, 2008 to treat pain for spondy. Also have stenosis and scoliosis (I think it's up to 51degrees now...).
