I walked into Walmart tonight after work to pick up some stocking stuffers for my fiance. Like usual, I went straight to the electronics section to see if perhaps they had a PS3 or Wii. So I get there and there is a one 20gb PS3 sitting in the display case and no customers are around. I walk up to the guy working and ask him if it's for real or just a display case and he says it's real. I say I'll take it and RFoM and ask him if he'll hold it for me while I do my stocking stuffer shopping. He says sure so I head off. 10 minutes later I'm back and purchase it, RFom, and extra controller, and the 2 year service plan.
But there's more. I get home and have to fix our dryer that broke last night. I get that done and the fiance and I take a shower together. So we get done and I unpack the PS3. After looking it over a bit, I disconnect the PS2 from our HDTV and set it and the cables on the floor. Next, PS3 setup. First comes the power cable. Then the AV cables No HDMI included is super gay. Anyways, so I plug the PS3 in and try to turn it on. Nothing happens. Shit, I forgot to turn the main power switch on. Switch that on and try to start up the PS3 again. Again, nothing. I grab the flashlight (lighting isn't too great over there) and take a closer look. HOLY SHIT MY PS3 IS FUCKING BROKE!!!!!!!!!!!! Near the power button the case is seperated about one quarter of an inch preventing me from actually pressing the power button. I grab the PS3 and put it on the counter so I can look at it better. There's two locking tabs on one half of the case aren't locked in and they are holding it apart. I try real quick to get them where they are supposed to be but it's not working. So I call Walmart and ask for an exchange but they don't have any more. Neither does the other local Walmart. So I call Sony and they just do the 'WTF you broke it. Oh well, ship it to us and we'll send you a new one.' Fuck that, I'm not waiting any more. I grab a screwdriver, my fiance, and the flashlight. I lay the flashlight on the countertop shining at the PS3 and have my fiance hold the PS3 steady. I pushed as hard as I could on those tabs and got them both of pop in.
It works perfectly now.
Cliffs: Went to walmart, surprised by PS3, bought PS3, PS3 case seperated and Sony wanted me to send them it and they'll replace it, fixed it myself, all is good now.
