...with it until now.? I accidentally dropped it and even though it was in a plastic case, the case somehow opened and it fell out from it. I checked the psp and it worked out fine but when I opened the umd port it made this popping sound. The umd port works fine and so does the psp, but this sound is kind of making me mad each time I insert a umd disk or even touch the port. My warranty experied last month so I can't send it to them and I don't want to spend any money since the psp itself works out fine. Just don't like this sound. Any ideas about what happened and do you think that there's any way to fix it.

one of your hinges is jammed. this is commonplace. if it begins to interfere with your gameplay then you have two choices you can return it to sony for refurbishment, there will be a fee for this, or you can trade your psp toward a new one at gamestop or eb games, you will not get full retail value for your system but you can put the store credit toward a new or used or refurbed system and you can get another warranty through them and their warrantys cover everything, at the end of your warranty (one to two yrs) take your system back in tell them its broke get a another system and a new warranty for the cost of a warranty good luck

You should have been more careful. There is no way for you to fix it. It is your consiquence for your carelesness..

this happened before to me, 1 of the hinges must be jammed like mine, it does nothing but make noise.

That would not be covered under warranty anyways, unless you had an extended warranty that covered ANYTHING from theft to abuse.

You might be able to send it to SONY and they can refurb it or just buy a refurb'd unit to replace it.
